Advantage 1: Flexible deployability

No hardware has to be ordered and installed. The Dynamic Cloud Server only has to be prepared via our Cloud Control Center. A matter of minutes, not days and weeks like with a traditional server.

If necessary, your server can be ready for use within a few minutes after your order.

Given that your server is virtual, it is equally easy to extend. Extra memory, new disk capacity or more processing power do not require any downtime for rebuilding a server. We simply change the parameters of your Dynamic Cloud Server and it's done. Scalability is also flexibility.

Dynamic Cloud Servers are also interesting for temporary projects. Short-term event sites, for example. Or suppose that you want to try out a new version of a particular software. We can make a perfect copy of your current Dynamic Cloud Server and have it run in the Cloud as well. On it you can first test the upgrade to check whether everything is working properly. Only then do you decide whether the new version can be safely applied, and the temporary Dynamic Cloud Server can disappear once again.

There is also more than enough flexibility on the part of the Cloud. Maintenance on machines take place without any downtime. Suppose that we have to do maintenance on a particular physical server in the Cloud. The first thing we do is move all of the Dynamic Cloud Servers which are running on it to the rest of the Cloud, which occurs without you noticing anything. Then we can remove the server in question from the Cloud, repair it and put it back again, after which the Cloud can take this machine back into operation.

You also don't have to make any upfront investment. You pay flexibly per month a subscription fee based on what you need. In this way the costs keep pace with your earnings, and you can flexibly manage your budget.

In short, flexibility in every direction.

Advantage 2: Scalability over time

In this way, you or your IT staff are freed from the difficult problem that is posed at the start of every project: "How heavy-duty does the server I'm ordering have to be: big enough to handle the growth of the coming three years, yet still remain within budget?". Now you can start small and grow quickly if necessary. And even the other way around. If you need more capacity during a particular time of the year, in that period we can give more power to your Dynamic Cloud Server, and afterwards let it shrink again.

An example? Suppose that for several months you'll be conducting a campaign and are expecting more visitors to your site. During those months we therefore make your web server a bit more robust in order to receive the extra visitors, and afterwards we put the parameters back to where they were before. The same with the accompanying subscription costs, of course. So you only pay for what you really need.

The corresponding bandwidth and storage can also be smoothly adapted.

And last but not least, because Dynamic Cloud Servers are so easy to use, a second, third, fourth,... server can simply be added as your project grows.

Advantage 3: High Availability

In today's economy, IT failure is a disaster for your company. Every hour that a server is down costs money. We can speak of a disaster if critical IT elements are out of action for more than two days and critical data are lost.

Did you know that in the US, for example, 29% of all companies which have experienced an IT disaster close within two years? 10 days of IT problems lead to bankruptcy within one year in 93% of the cases.

There already exist solutions for clustering applications and making backups, but these cost a lot of money and are often of the "boot and pray" type. Getting a malfunctioning server working again on the basis of a tape backup requires an average of between 24 and 48 hours.

With a Dynamic Cloud Server you are hardware-independent. Defective disks or faulty memory no longer cause nightmares, because as soon as the Cloud notes that a component is malfunctioning, that component is placed in maintenance and thanks to the High Availability option your Dynamic Cloud Server is immediately restarted somewhere else in the Cloud.

Advantage 4: Backups with a short Time To Recovery

With a Dynamic Cloud Server you can also choose for a complete set of backups. You decide yourself how often a backup must be done of the entire machine and how long it must be kept in the Cloud.

This Consolidated Backup means you always have a Point in Time to go back to. And because it's a complete snapshot of your Dynamic Cloud Server, it's available once again in no time. This in contrast to a conventional backup system, where you first have to set up a new server, reinstall all of the software and then - hopefully - be able to successfully restore the data. On average, a Time To Recovery from a tape takes more than 24 hours!

Nothing like that with the Consolidated Backup. The snapshot is a complete copy of your entire machine and thus can be started in its entirety in the Cloud, so that your server is back precisely the way it was at the time when the backup was made.

The Consolidated Backups also have the advantage that they can be restarted as a second server in the Cloud. For example, is there something wrong on your server and would you like to check whether the copy from yesterday also contained this error? We can have the backup from yesterday started up separately, so that you can verify everything on it or e.g. resurrect precisely that one file that you overwrote.

So here too you don't need any extra backup software that you have to install and manage yourself. If you take the backup option, all this is done automatically in the Cloud. The only thing you have to do is decide at which intervals you want a backup done, and for how long those backups must be kept. Simplicity is trump!

Advantage 5: CAPEX to OPEX

Thanks to Dynamic Cloud Servers, you no longer have to purchase expensive hardware yourself. You also don't need a qualified IT staff to maintain your own servers.

So no more Capital Expense. Henceforth your server budget is entirely an Operational Expense.

Advantage 6: Fault Tolerance for all your applications

With High Availability you already have the certainty that there is always room in the Cloud to restart your server when necessary.

But if your application is truly business-critical and can tolerate absolutely no downtime, there is also Fault Tolerance (FT).

With FT a shadow copy of your Dynamic Cloud Server will run in LockStep. In other words, an exact copy of your Dynamic Cloud Server will be created in the Cloud and it will always execute the same task as the active Dynamic Cloud Server to the millisecond. If something goes wrong with the active Dynamic Cloud Server, this copy will immediately continue without you noticing a thing.

Your application does not have to be changed for this. Because FT works at the level of the server, everything which runs on your server is automatically protected against downtime if you opt for Fault Tolerance .

Advantage 7: Security is trump

Our Cloud is housed in our class A data centers, with all the necessary facilities.

On the network level your Dynamic Cloud Servers are protected by Juniper Firewalls which are responsible for warding off Denial-of-Service attacks and other threats on the Internet.

With Advanced Firewalling you can yourself - in consultation with the Nucleus specialists on the subject - determine which IP ports are opened. You can also activate virus scanning.

The advantage is that this takes place in the Cloud, thus before the malicious traffic reaches your server. So a virus is already intercepted upon entering the Cloud if you choose this option.
