You can create a website using 2 methods.

You either use a WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get), like Microsoft Expression Web or Macromedia Dreamweaver. In this program, you can add text to a webpage in the usual manner, including images and tables, and give the text the needed make-up, using colors and fonts. It’s working method is very similar to that of Word or Excel, but instead of creating .Doc (word) or .Xls (excel) files, these programs create .html files – the extension used to indicate webpages.

Another method is the use of HTML code. Every website is built using different HTML codes, which give the website the needed layout. Via these codes you can add text, tables, images, … It is certainly adviseable to learn HTML if you intent to create websites, but it is not mandatory (if you use the WYSIWYG editors, as described above).
